Discussions are underway between the Club, the GBFL, the GB Girls Development League and a US travel/soccer related company to host 2 tournaments for teams from the US , Bahamian and Club teams in 2007 . Well known irishman Derek Lawther has organised a number of tournaments in the Bahamas and soccer related events on the US west coast over the years via his Company Golden West Sports ( http://www.goldenwestsports.com )
The Club and the Grand Bahama Footballing community have now joined forces with Derek to launch two tournaments in 2007 for prosepctive travellers from near ( Eight Mile Rock and Lucaya) and far ( Florida, West coast and the UK) .
Scheduled soccer tournaments have been pencilled in as follows :
Soccer in the Sun adult soccer tournament (February 8th to 12th 2007)

The club is set to burst into a frenzy of activity as the final plans are being made by the respective leagues for the seasons to start . Hot off the press , here we are:
Rugby
7 s has started in Nassau and Bahamas Cup action is scheduled to commence November 11th with Freeport defending their title against an as yet to be named team. .
Next game is slated for November 25th – home v Baillou (3pm ko) and then travelling to Nassau to play Cuckoos on december 2nd
Senior Soccer
Adult GBFL is scheduled to start November 5th with the Club entering 2 teams in the mens division and hopefully 2 in the womens. Full fixture still to be finallised.
Boys Intermediate I league every wednesday at The Club from 5pm to 6.30 for boys aged 14 to 17

Preparations are on hand for the annual sponsored 50 mile bike ride on Sunday December 3rd . The event which raises funds for the youth programmes at the Club is a regular fixture at the Club now but still needs more people to either come out and cycle, help in the ‘road side assistance’ or in sponsoring the hardy souls .

Details have just been announced for the prestigious Freeport Rugby & Football Club Golf Day on Saturday November 4th commencing at midday.
In what is expected to be an annual event , the tournament is to be held at Our Lucayas Reef Golf course and a hard round of golf will be followed by suitable refreshments . Event co-ordinator Tomi the Finn expects the event to become a mainstay in the Islands social calendar.
