Reef Course Grand Bahama Island

Local Rules: The Reef Golf Course

Fairways or Closely Mown Areas:

Fairways will be played as Preferred Lies (also known as Lift, Clean and Place) within 1 club length no closer to the hole. (See Preferred Lie definition below.)  To alleviate doubt, if the area around the green is a Closely Mown Area, at the very least the area around the green within 1 club length of the green is Closely Mown Area.

Bunkers:

Bunkers will be played as Preferred Lies (also known as Lift, Clean and Place) within 1 club length no closer to the hole. (See Preferred Lie definition below.)

Par 3 holes:

All par 3 holes have a drop area. This drop area may be used when your ball enters the water with 1 stroke penalty.  It also may be used if your ball goes into any heavy rough on or around that hole with 1 stroke penalty. You may play your ball as it lies if it is found without a penalty.

Penalty Areas:

All water is a penalty area.

There are ONLY 3 other penalty areas:

  1. The left of Hole 5. BETWEEN the cart path and the fairway or green,
  2. The back of Hole 7 beginning with the water on the left and extending to the cart path on the right.
  3. The back of Hole 15 beginning with the water on the left and extending to the cart path on the right.

Rule E-5:

This allows you to play a lost or out-of-bounds ball on the fairway with a 2-stroke penalty.  If you play a provisional ball, you no longer have the option of rule E-5.

Golf Carts:

Golf carts are not permitted within 10 yards of the greens and positively not between the green bunkers and the green. Except for Hole 3 the golf carts must be kept on the cart path while at tee boxes.

Preferred Lies or Lift Clean and Replace:

You must mark the ball’s location, lift the ball, clean, and then place it within 1 club length no nearer the hole on the same surface (a ball in the bunker must stay in the bunker, a ball on the fairway must stay on the fairway).  If the ball rolls or moves in any way after you place it, then it must then be played as it lies.
