WHIRLPOOL YOUTH SOCCER LEAGUE: AC Millies in top spot
After last week’s avalanche of goals, the defenses tightened up this week and the strikers had to work far harder for their opportunities.
AC Millies showed they are comfortable at the top of the table as they saw off Cable Bahama Stars by 2 goals to 1 and put ‘daylight’ between themselves and GB Shipyard (who did not play) at the top. Goals from Roger Johnson and Sam Taylor were enough for AC Millies whilst Denzil Deveaux scored the lone goal for the Stars.
In the second game, Borco Oilers and Dynamo Smit player out an entertaining 1:1 draw. Andre Turnquest scored again and is starting to be a player to watch in this league. Expect big things from this young player in future years. Travis Taylor scored for Dynamos and is another player who will become stronger and better as he gains more experience at a higher level. Both players have started training with the senior men’s team and do not look out of place at that level.
Standings after Round 7
AC Millies 15 points
GB Shipyard 12 points
Cable Bahamas Stars 9 points
Borco Oilers 7 points
Dynamo Smit 7 points
Games continue each and every Wednesday from 5pm at Freeport Rugby & Football Club.
