Kellogg Rugby travels to the Freeport Rugby Football Club this week
Members of the Kellogg Rugby Club (Northwestern MBA students) are leaving their books and the cold in Chicago and traveling to the Bahamas this week for a match up against Bahamas Cup Champions Freeport Rugby & Football Club.
During the regular season, the club plays against local mens rugby clubs as well as other MBA programs however the team usually takes a break from the pitch during the cold Chicago winters. But this year, the team decided to go on tour. A tour would not only give us a chance to play rugby, but help build team unity as we head into the spring season. I also need a break from getting my balls busted by my wife. Dont quote me on that… the wife part. said captain Campbell Lyle.
The team explored several locations and clubs, but the Freeport Rugby Football Club in Grand Bahamas came out as the clear favorite. The club has incredible facilities and the Bahamas is an ideal location. However, it was Rob Speller, President of Freeport Rugby Football Club, who made this such an easy decision. From day one Rob has gone out of his way to accommodate Kellogg Rugby and make this trip possible. Thank you.
In total, 20 students (1st year, 2nd year, part-time and exchange) with various degrees of rugby experience will make the trip. Thats the beauty of Kellogg Rugby. It allows students from different sections, years, and even programs who might have otherwise never met to form life long friendships.
And that is what we plan to do in the Bahamas while fishing, scuba diving and playing rugby.
The rugby part of ther tour is at 2.30 pm saturday at the Freeport Rugby Club on Settlers Way . All spectators welcome.
