FREEPORT KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE WITH MASSIVE VICTORY
Freeport 45 Buccaneers 19
Freeport kept their unbeaten record in this years Bahamas Cup competition with a decisive victory against Buccaneers of Nassau. Having one game and drawn another Freeport needed another victory to keep them in the hunt for their first Bahamas Cup victory in ten years.
Right from the off Freeport looked like they meant business and soon went 14 – 0 up with tries from Geo Rolle and Jackelo Pierre. Bucc’s responded with a try before Freeport hit back with another superb try from the young Geo Rolle. The forwards gave the backs magical ball and the backs lead by Nigel Kirkby and James Blezzard didn’t disappoint and soon the likes of Marco Pierre, Edwin and Denny Oasis had the opposition running in circles.
Geo Rolle scored another try before Nassau hit back with a well worked try. Forwards were working hard and Steve Darwin, Perkins and Ricardance Michele made sure no Nassau playing went forward without receiving a tackle they won’t forget. Soon Freeport went further ahead when Denny “Dynamite” Oasis struck with a well worked try and Freeport never looked back. Desmond Carroll came on for the old man KC Charlton and still the scrums and line outs kept the ball in Nassau’s half.
When the final whistle went Freeport had recorded a record score for the club in recent history and the team remained in the hunt for the elusive Bahamas Cup which has stayed in Nassau for the past ten years.
The next game is against Cuckoo’s of Nassau on January 7, 2006 and if they keep playing like this Freeport can bring the cup home to where it belongs.
