GEO ROLLE SELECTED FOR WEST INDIES TRIALS
Geo Rolle, 19 yrs of age, of Grand Bahama has been selected to travel to Trinidad this week for trials for the West Indies 7’s Rugby Team. If selected Geo will travel around the world with the team representing the Bahamas (Caribbean) in the 2008 7’S Rugby circuit which includes the Hong Kong 7’s, San Diago 7’s and several tournaments in Europe. Geo who is 19 and works for the Freeport Container Port has been playing rugby since he was 13 and over recent years has progressed to a high level which culminated in playing for the Bahamas two weekends ago in the Caribbean 7’s held in Nassau. From his display in Nassau the West Indies selectors picked him for the trails this week. The selectors have picked a squad of 20 players of which 12 will be selected for the West Indies team who will play the Trinidad sevens this weekend as a final tryout for the final selection. Geo wishes to thank The Freeport Container Port for their understanding in giving him time of work and we all hope Geo makes the team and can represent Grand Bahama and The Bahamas on the world stage.

Freeport 37 – Buccaneers 5
In the opening game of the 2007/8 Bahamas Cup Freeport ran out winners against the Buccaneers of Nassau 37-5. Missing some regular players Freeport started with a flourish and scored two tries within the first ten minutes of the game with Miles Wilkinson and Perkins Joseph both scoring and Kacey Charlton converting one the tries. With the return of Aaron Turnquest and John Lane after a couple of seasons the backs of Freeport ran the opposition ragged with some fine ball handling. George Walker and Geo Rolle kept the ball flowing and punished Buc’s bu setting up Aaron Turnquest to chip over the top of the defense and score himself. Up front the likes of Leon Mcphee, Nicky Russell and Brad Culmer secured good ball for Freeport and the flankers of Perkins Joseph and Miles Wilkinson ensured the Buc’s back line never had chance to secure good ball. Leading 20-0 at the half Freeport struggle in the first 20 minutes of the second have to break the defense before Perkins Joseph who had just returned from the sin bin scored three quick tries and ran the opposition all over the park.
FREEPORT'S NEXT GAME IS DECEMBER 8 V CUCKOOS IN NASSAU
